Our wine resolutions for 2017

Sunday 1st January, at 11:00pm

Happy New Wine Year everyone !

Unlike the ambitious resolutions people routinely fail to stick to-lose 5kg, finding true love or visit more cities-this year, let's make it easier to achieve by giving a touch of grapes. Here it goes !

1. Start a small collection

After moving to Bordeaux to study wine, I began to have a small wine cellar in my apartment for the wine I want and will taste, whether it is for a nice evening with friends or romantic dinner with your partner, it is always handy to have a small collection nearby, so if you don't have one, why don't you start it in 2017 ? It does not have to be super fancy or expensive, we can start with 12 or 24 bottled-cellar with a temperature control.

2. Drink more varieties

Since our blog is based in Bordeaux, it is normal that we tend to focus on bordelais wine, even though we have all the diversified wine regions in France and even the entire old and new world wine regions, but sometimes we discover attractive wines such as Gewurtztraminer with a strong note of lychee or Tokaji from Hungary with its impressive fruity jam flavor. There's many good wine coming from more parts of the world than ever before, so why not try to have an open mind and learn to discover more surprises in the wine world ?

3. Learn how to read a label

How many times did you ask yourself :

What is the appelation ? The grape ? The name of the Château ? The vintage ? Grand cru, classé, bourgeois ? 13,5 %vol ? That's all ?

Okay Ladies & Gentlemen now it's time to know all of this for 2017 !

Or you can buy bottle like that and I(ve already understood it ...

4. Get down on earth

Many of us talk about wine, drink wine all the time, but does any of us have ever tried to help a winery during harvest seasons or actually taste the grapes that are used to make wines, or putting feet on the vineyard where the wine grapes are grown? Trust me, spend a weekend in a winery or help during harvest seasons as a saisonnier will help you appreciate much more the wine that you are swirling.

5. Host a tasting at home

I used to organize lots of fun activities with friends such as pajamas party, 60s party and hello kitty party, but the most fun of all will always be the the wine tasting party, each of the guests can bring a bottle of wine and we cover the tickets and with a plate of cold meat and cheese, there you go another wonderful night with the friends, so if you have never hosted one, why not have one in 2017?
